Pennthorpe School is an independent, co-educational day school located in Rudgwick, West Sussex, catering for pupils aged two to thirteen years. The school operates as a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors and is divided into three sections: the Early Years, which includes Nursery and Reception for children aged two to four; the Lower School for pupils aged six to nine; and the Upper School for those aged ten to thirteen. Founded in the 1930s as a boys' prep school in Chislehurst, Kent, it became co-educational upon relocating to its current site in 1948. Since the last inspection, the school has appointed a new headmistress and senior management team, implementing a clear development strategy for its facilities and increasing educational and business representation on the board of governors.
