Husband wants to go travelling on his own, fair? Can I give a stranger parenting advice? Nanny pregnant: worried about childcare, Top tips for London gardens!

Last Updated on : 1st June 2015

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

I’ve just returned from a family holiday in the Lake District.

It’s my favourite place outside of the capital, not least because the combination of zero phone reception and a “tech ban” means the children have to find their entertainment outside.

On Wednesday we climbed Helvellyan.

As we struggled up Striding Edge I’m ashamed to admit I allowed myself a little burst of pride in bringing up children who could co-exist as both town and country mice.

“Look! Look!” shouted my eldest once we’d reached the summit.

I turned to where he was jumping up and down and wondered if it was the view or the achievement of climbing one of England’s highest peaks that was causing his excitement.

“Yay! Two bars. Two. Whole. Bars!”

So that’ll be his phone.

Here is what you’ve been talking about on NappyValleyNet (Wandsworth):
