New Wellbeing Hub Opens at Eaton House the Manor

Last Updated on : 28th November 2024

We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new Wellbeing Hub at Eaton House The Manor. This dedicated space is designed to support the emotional and mental health of all our students, fostering a positive and nurturing environment for their growth and development.

Additionally, the Wellbeing Hub will house our medical facility, led by our wonderful school nurse Sophie, who will be available to provide essential medical care and support to our students.

Together, the counselling services and medical support within the Wellbeing Hub will create a comprehensive resource for our students, addressing their physical and emotional needs.

Mrs Philippa Cawthorne is our Head of Wellbeing and in-house counsellor who is available to support children on a one-to-one basis. She helps children who may be feeling anxious, worried, or lacking in confidence and self-esteem, particularly in relation to their school experiences. Philippa provides a caring and understanding environment for those dealing with friendship issues or other challenges that may arise at home or at school. Additionally, she teaches mindfulness classes to help children develop coping strategies and enhance their resilience and emotional well-being.

If parents feel that their child could benefit from her support, they can speak with their child’s form teacher, who will be happy to facilitate an introduction. This valuable support is offered free of charge.

Ms Georgina Ross is our visiting counsellor and accredited psychotherapist, who can also work one-on-one with children. Georgina has extensive experience in child and adolescent mental health and specialises in helping children manage emotional challenges such as anxiety, behavioural difficulties, grief, exam-related stress and friendship issues. She also supports children facing major transitions, such as parental separation, illness, or school changes. She combines talking therapies with creative approaches which allows children to express themselves while building resilience and developing effective strategies for coping with life’s challenges.

Georgina charges privately for these sessions and parents can approach Philippa Cawthorne if they feel that their children will benefit from her support.

In this way, pupils have the support of form teachers, Heads of Houses and the wellbeing staff, as will as all the senior management team, ensuring they are supported throughout the whole of their school life.

The happiness of the pupils is fundamental at Eaton House The Manor, and part of Principal and Eaton House The Manor Head’s Mrs Sarah Segrave’s passionately-held philosophy that ‘no child shall pass their time at Eaton House The Manor unnoticed.’
