Romany scout site: important update. Help: do you recognise the family in the photo? Your favourite local shops?

Last Updated on : 7th July 2014

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

I almost feel I should apologise for the opening in this week’s email.

The future of the Romany Scout Site is something we’ve highlighted before but, at the risk of appearing overly repetitive, it’s a subject to which we have to return.

There was a bizarre public meeting this week, chaired by Lord Michael Grade, with hundreds of people in attendance from Members of Parliament to councillors, local parents to Scouts, tennis club members to journalists.

It appears that the tennis club would rather sell to a developer than a benevolent local resident, who is willing to beat the current offer by £50k, and leave it in it’s current format for the good of the community.

Events are changing by the hour so I can’t possibly give you the latest updates in an email written over the weekend but I would like to point you in the direction of our open letter to the club (click here) and the “Save The Romany” campaign’s Facebook page (click here) which should outline the current situation and where we stand on the issue.
