Santa sightings, holiday activities and a very Merry Christmas!: Your weekly What’s On guide from NappyValleyNet

Last Updated on : 18th December 2014

Dear NappyValleyNetter,

Welcome to your weekly “What’s On” guide from NappyValleyNet!

Christmas is a week today.  How did that happen?  As well as all the festive fairs, Christmas concerts, carol singing, mince pie eating and mulled wine swilling, it’s the wrapping that’s the name of the game this week.  And I don’t mean Fleur in the X Factor final.  Why is it those 3 for 2 on 3m rolls are never quite enough but you generally don’t realise this until midnight on Christmas Eve?  And footballs have to be the hardest thing to wrap.  Beneath the tree, wrapped presents take on weird and wonderful shapes and lead to much debate as to what they might hold (unless it’s that football).  No touching though – the elves are out in force keeping watch for good behaviour….So, as the school holidays get underway, don’t forget our fab calendar to keep you all entertained, packed as it is with ideas for the whole family as well as wonderful ways to keep the children busy and happy…click here for details

The Christmas holidays are ON!  Here are a few activities that might just be of interest…

Busy Bakers are running a Christmassy workshop to allow you more time for your preparations (or just to sit quietly somewhere!) while they delve into gingerbread, cupcakes, glitter, stickers and more.  And all in someone else’s kitchen – hurrah!…click here for details

Any budding Gerrards, Lampards or Beckhams in your gang?  Hone their skills with Open Air Fit and their football-focused mornings next week, with drills, exercises and a bit of fancy footwork, too.  Boys and girls all welcome – and wrap up warm.  Training happens whatever the weather…click here for details

Or flick-flack your way to the Christmas Gymnastics Camps at The Little Gym, either before or after 25th, where they’ll have challenges, adventures and snacks.  Three things which all children love!…click here for details

And The Muppet Christmas Carol will be on for your children to enjoy from the lovely squashy sofas of The Exhibit next week, followed by learning a dance routine to a festive song thanks to the Funky Moves Kids Dance & Movie Club Christmas Special.  While they’re tucked up there you can do a last minute dash around Balham while they’re not looking!…click here for details

If your children are aged 7 and up, they can take part in Athletics Training at the Tooting Bec athletics track with Herne Hill Harriers this holidays.  If they were inspired by the Olympics or would like to give something different a try, then go along and receive training tips from some top coaches.  Next stop Tokyo 2020?…click here for details

Active Art is back at the Nature Study Centre on Wandsworth Common with their Eco Craft Christmas workshops.  Join in on the fun – draw characters, make toys and Christmas bags with recycled fabrics, as well as candles, decorations, yummy chocolates and more.  Lovely creative festive fun in two groups for children aged 3 up to 11…click here for details
