Welcome to your NappyValleyNet weekly “What’s On” guide!

I love it when some great themes present themselves!  It seems October brings all things decorative and arty and there’s plenty to peruse and purchase.  Then we get on to schools and it’s Open Day season…And then it’s half term.  How on earth it’s already time for another week (or more!?) off, I don’t really understand.  But thankfully, we have our fab calendar to give us some kind of anchor as life goes zooming on.  Take a look and please do add to it if you’ve got anything going on that you’d like to share (click here)

How about a bit of art and culture this week?  And lots of it is within our reach

The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair is on now at Battersea Park and runs until 4th.  Just £10 on the door will get you entry to an Aladdin’s Cave of unusual antiques, original 20th century designs and works of art.  Enjoy!…click here for more details

The Decorative Living Fair is on at Chelsea Town Hall today.  Head over ‘our’ stunning Albert Bridge and take some time out while you look around a fabulous mix of decorative antiques and here for more details

This weekend and next it’s the Wandsworth Artists’ Open House where you can meet the artists and see them at work in their homes, studios and garden sheds.  Everything from painting and drawing to jewellery, sculpture and photography will be on offer to admire and buy and it could be right on your doorstep! here for more details

And as part of The Big Draw Event, children and families are invited to make a room or a house in a shoebox in aid of Shelter.  They plan to gather hundreds of boxes and attach them to the wall in one big installation to create a gigantic dolls’ house to underline the importance of a home for all.  Go along on Saturday 18 October to see the end result as part of the Big Draw celebration…click here for more details 

Balham Bowls Club Craft & Vintage Fair is back this Sunday for its monthly visit with all things creative, from cake making to textiles and special edition prints, plus live music.  Creative and tuneful… a lovely mix!…click here for more details

Wimbledon Art & Design Fair will be ‘popping up’ in St Mark’s Place, Wimbleon (its new home, having moved from Wimbledon Village), so ‘pop’ in for a free look around…click here for more details

Half term approaches so time to get thinking about how to entertain those little bundles of energy…

Funky Moves Dance is on again at The Exhibit on Tuesdays and Fridays over two weeks.  A movie, a dance and the chance to be creative.  Perfect! (click here).  And there are two free places up for grabs!  Just take a snap of the most funky move your children can strike – that shouldn’t be too hard!…click here for more details

Little Voices are running a 3-day half term camp in Putney where they’ll take part in Shrek the Musical.  Eat your hearts out Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz…click here for more details

School’s Out Holiday Club will be back in full swing in the Balham Community Centre from 8.30am to 6.30pm every day of the week of 27th.  From music and drama to cookery, sports, IT and trips to museums and parks your children will be entertained and throughly exhausted…click here for more details
