Alleyn’s Anniversary Year Sees Students Post First-Rate A-Level Results

Boys and girls at co-educational Alleyn’s School in Dulwich achieve 30% A* grades during an auspicious anniversary year.

Year 13 students at Alleyn’s have once again posted a very strong set of A level examination results, upholding the School’s long-held record of academic success.

The grades add to the School’s many causes for celebration during 2019, which marks 400 years since Founder Edward Alleyn established his School.

The headline results are:

• 30% of all grades awarded were at A*
• 68% of all grades awarded were at A* and A
• 89% of all grades awarded were at A*, A and B
• 16 students gained 3 A* grades or better
• 77 students gained at least 3 A* or A grades

Both boys and girls performed very strongly at Alleyn’s, as befits one of the UK’s leading co-educational day schools.

Headmaster Dr Gary Savage said: “We are truly delighted with our students’ A level achievements this year. Their results are well-deserved, and attest to their hard work and commitment to learning throughout their time at Alleyn’s. Our congratulations go out to them and to their families, as well as to our dedicated staff who work so tirelessly to inspire, challenge and support the pupils each and every day.”

I have no doubt that he would be equally delighted with the kind, caring and holistic educational ethos that fosters such positive outcomes for our terrific young people year after year here at Alleyn’s.”

Head of Upper School Dr Rob Atkinson said: “We are so pleased for each and every one of our students. Their own sustained endeavour has secured these fantastic results, so we hope they feel proud – not just of their grades but of the effort they put into achieving them.”

“The majority of our boys and girls will progress to their first-choice courses at UK and overseas universities and specialist centres of learning. We wish them the very best of luck with this exciting new chapter of their life. In our 400^thanniversary year it feels particularly fitting to remind them that there will always be a warm welcome for them back here at Alleyn’s.”

Alleyn’s was one of the first schools of its kind to become fully co-educational back in 1976. It continues to be highly regarded for its holistic ethos and caring community within which boys and girls learn, grow and succeed together.

The School is celebrating Alleyn’s 400 (the 400^thanniversary of Edward Alleyn’s foundation of his College of God’s Gift in Dulwich) throughout 2019. The year will be marked both by commemorative events and an ambitious fundraising campaign to further increase the number of transformational bursary places for children who might not otherwise be able to attend this happy and successful School.
