Man killed by train at Tooting Bec station

A man has been killed at Tooting Bec Underground station after being hit by a train.

Emergency services descended on Tooting at around 12:30pm yesterday (January 17), with at least 10 police and ambulance vehicles at the scene and London's Air Ambulance landing on Tooting Common.

British Transport Police said they were called to Tooting Bec station alongside paramedics to reports that a man had been struck by a train.

Despite the best efforts of medics, a man sadly died at the scene.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said they sent an ambulance crew, incident response officer, medics in cars, a hazardous area response team and the London air ambulance.

"We were called at 12:31pm this afternoon (January 17) to reports of a person injured at Tooting Bec Underground Station.

"Sadly, despite the efforts of medics at the scene, a person died."

The BTP added that incident is currently being treated as non suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The man's next of kin will be informed.
