I just did the mini glucose test on Wednesday! You need to put 17 dextro energy tablets in 100ml of hot water then top it up with 100 ml of cold water. Drink the sugary mix 1 hour before your appointment, follow up with 200 ml of normal water.

Hello, pinging this thread as I have my test in the morning at C&W and also misplaced the information sheet. Can anyone confirm how many tablets you take and with how much liquid? Also the timings please. Thank you!!

Yes the test has changed now because the new Lucozade doesn’t have enough sugar in it.

So you have to buy a pack of Dextrose energy tablets from the chemist and eat them a couple of hours before you go in for your appointment

Phone the midwives office (number on the front of your notes) to check the exact number of tablets you need to eat... it’s not the whole pack but I can’t remember how many

Hello,

From what I remember you shouldn’t eat/drink anything (apart from water) for about 12 hours before the test (I got sent home for sipping my daughters milk to check the temp !!!!). They’ll give you a sugary drink when you get there (you don’t need to take anything), take your blood and then make you wait for a couple of hours). Take a magazine ;).

Good luck!

I think you should call the labour ward/ birth centre to ask them.

C&W Glucose Test... help!!!

Hoping someone here can come to my aid ahead of my hospital appointment on Monday morning - I am due to have the mini glucose tolerance test at Chelsea & Westminster and having gone through my notes this morning realise they never gave me the information to prepare for it!!!

This is my third pregnancy, so although an ‘old pro’ I was informed by the midwife that they changed the way they test last year and no longer give you a bottle of Lucozade and you have to buy some tablets from the chemist instead now. Does anyone here have this current information?! Or can tell me exactly what I need to do before going in?!

xx
