My son's friend had a go kart birthday party at the latchmere leisure centre. The kids had a fantastic time. This was brilliant.
You can view the video I made on my website and see if it is suitable for your son.

Hi there
Sounds like you have had some great ideas already posted - but if your son is the active type, we run amazing birthday parties based on gymnastics but they can be themed according to what he likes. Your group will have full use of our gym for an hour and a half, with some of that time being spent for your birthday tea. Our fully qualified instructors look after everything for you and the gym is fully air-conditioned and has a large additional space for seating the kids and parents.
We have a few slots left before Christmas so do give us a call if you would like to find out more or visit http://www.thelittlegym.co.uk/uk-en/wan ... -parties-0
Have fun planning the party!

PS we were voted by Parenting magazine as Best Birthday Party in August 2014!

Clip and Climb just off the Fulham Road (behind Harley Davidson shop)
I was there on Saturday for a boys party and it was wonderful. Not so busy, noisy or messy as places like Gambardo.
The owners also allow you to bring in your own catering and even recommend a pizza place that delivers to the venue if you would like decent pizza.
All in all a great experience

You could take the whole gang, plus your own picnic lunch (which they allow happily, although you can also buy stuff there (hot fodd & snacks, but like most venues it will be more expensive than your own nibbles), over to Craggy Island Climbing wall. There are two actually - one out near Guildford and one in Carshalton. I've climbed frequently both venues where they offer instructor led sessions (including bouncy boys' birthday parties). The Carshalton one has a large bouldering wall and a huge indoor caving system to explore. A great day out for giggles, challenges and good physical activity. Beats stuffing their little tummies with junk food and watching telly all day, and it might just ignite a new passion in your little boy!

The instructors are all qualified, insured and great with kids, whether they are confident kids or nervous ones. I've watched them in action when I have clmbed with my husband there over the years.

Whatever you choose - have a great day! :D

Hi there, I know a company called Notorious Kids www.notoriouskids.com they do great 'Movie Mystery' parties for older kids. The children become characters in the story and have to solve a mystery, I've recently seen a Tin Tin Adventure one and a Scooby Doo one which was very popular with boys but pretty sure they can base it on any movie/story you request.

Hope that helps!

My son is also about to turn 9! I arrange quite a few kids parties. I have all sorts of entertainers that I've found over the years. My company is called Butternut Events. How about a wildlife party? We have a great couple who come in with little racoons, meerkats, skunks, hedgehogs, plus little reptiles and bugs. Really brilliant hands on experience for the kids. We also have a bloke with snakes, centipedes, etc., but he's not available for the next two months or so due to his new baby being due! We can help with all aspects of the parties- bespoke pinatas, themed cakes, personalised in invites and decorations, etc.. I'm a local Clapham Mum. Give me a call if you want to discuss. 07788445371

Swimming party at Clapham Leisure Centre. You can hire the whole pool for one hour, then they give you an upstairs room for an hour for food and cake (you provide that but they clear up). We did it in the summer and it was brilliant. The kids loved it. Have a good one. x

Hi, We went to a climb party here http://www.suttonlifecentre.org/climbing-wall/
along the A217.
there is free parking and you can hire a room in the library for the eatling part of the party or there's a Harvester.... over the road.

Swim parties at Virgin fitness centres always go down well..

My son had a rib ride for his 9th birthday - London Rib Riders is the company I think we booked with from memory. You hurtle along the Thames at speeds of up to 40 knots - v cool! You access the boat from near the London Eye, so you need to get to Waterloo or Westminster tube. The boat can take 12 but I think you need a couple of adults. We went for ribs at Bodeans after - we called it a Rib & Ribs Party!

Hi I run The Biscuit Tree & we specialise in tying in with themes so once you have decided what you are doing then we could provide party favours - iced biscuits - that tie in as I am pretty sure a 9 year old boy doesn't want a party bag?!?!?! OR they are fun to have on the table for the food too.
We have done some brilliant ones & they have proved to be a big hit.... we are about to do some Ninjago ones this week & no 'theme is too challenging!

Have you been at Clip and Climb in Chelsea (near the gasworks / lots road)? My kids love it and have both asked to have their party there (one is 9). The only problem is that I think its quite pricey... so I am already asking some of their friends mums if anyone wants to share with us !

Have a look - I think a 9 year old boy would love it !
