I ve been reading all your posts even though i havent posted myself.

I m seeing my consultant again soon and i will most probably arrange for a second opinion. In the meantime i know 1 woman in 8 has breast cancer and it is very curable in most cases but i cant stop feeling very scared.

Thank you very much for the recommendations and the offers of PM. I will take you up on that as soon as i muster the courage.

Sx

I've only just seen this but wanted to recommend Mr Gui at the Marsden. I kind of think with any cancer you're better off at the Marsden - it's the top cancer hospital in Europe. Mr Gui is one of the top breast cancer surgeons in the country and don't forget that if you need chemo you'll probably need to see a medical oncologist too. The Marsden have a private wing.

Good luck.

I know you have asked for private recommendations but the breast unit at St. George's is absolutely outstanding. It's a stand alone clinic in the main grounds and the team are just brilliant.

I have a history of breast lumps and I can usually get seen in less than a fortnight and you get same day results.

Just to second a previous posting, I'm under Professor Mockbel at the Princess Grace Hospital - he's absolutely lovely and very good!

Good luck and best wishes to all those who are fighting this horrid invasion!

I read a quote today from a young cancer patient - "When life serves you lemons, make it into lemonade"

Hi

i found a lump 4 years ago and was recommended Professor K Mokbel at Parkside hospital Wimbledon, i was seen within a few days, had a scan, mammogram and fine needle aspiration. He was very reassuring and thorough during the examination. I didnt need to have further treatment.
The whole procedure from start to finish was top form. This was 4 years ago, i believe he still practices there.
I hope you will be ok.
Best wishes

Apparently diet can make a massive difference to your treatment so please do go & see the lovely Somer Frankland at Neal's Yard on Northcote Road, she is a Naturopathic Nutritionist & comes highly recommended x

Another breast cancer patient here, I was diagnosed in April, a month before my daughters first birthday and my surgeon is Mr Sharma who was mentioned above, but I am NHS and have nothing but praise for my treatment and speed. Echoing Jingo_x if you want to email somebody about any aspect of treatment, I have my last chemo on Monday and then surgery in a months time so its all very current in my mind!

Good luck with it all.

Supergirl, sorry to hear your news wasn't good. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July and I am now undergoing treatment. Everyone deals with this differently, but after the shock of my diagnosis I drew an enormous amount of strength from speaking to women who had been treated or were in the middle of treatment. If you feel you would like to talk to someone in the same position I would be happy to help, so please feel free to PM me.
love and best wishes to you

I am so so sorry to hear this, many people are given a check, all is OK and life goes back to normal, for others the stress worry and anxiety multiplies.

You have the medical experts on your side and case now and I am sure they will make this as easy and comfortable as possible.

Wishing you all the very best, love hugs and support.

Thanks everyone.

The doctor i saw was really nice and works with nicholas beechey newman.

Sadly not a good news for me. I need to process it now.

But thanks for all your recommendations.

I hope all went well. The one stop breast clinic at London Bridge is great. I have been under the lovely Nick Beechy-Newman for many years and would definitely recommend him. My insurance has always covered his fees.

Hi Supergirl,
I was in exactly the same position as you earlier this year. I waited 10 days for an nhs appt and they were some of the most anxious days of my life. On the day itself I had a thorough physical examination, a mammogram of both breasts and an ultrasound. Although the lump in my breast was (and still) is quite large it turned out to be nothing sinister.
I found it particularly reassuring to see how many other women were waiting to be seen like me that day. I know it sounds crazy but it just showed how common it is to find lumps and backed up the fact that the vast majority are nothing to worry about.
I hope your appointment goes as well as mine did. xx

Thank you very much everyone for such prompt answers.

I ve checked all your recommendations and I can see them, I don't know why I was told that about Nicholas Beechey-Newman.
However I can only have appt on Tuesday at the earliest.

Mr Hamed at the London Bridge can see me tonight. I will go so I don't have to worry all week end. But as the other thread say, if I want a second opinion, I will arrange it with one of the consultant mentioned.

I will report back on my experience. I am so worried that I just want to know. I am sure I ll b fine but I just can't stop worrying.

Thanks again. Sx
