Hi

I would definitely suggest cutting out his day sleep (Sucks I know!), it is a bit hard at first and you will need to keep him entertained a lot more especially in the late afternoon so he doesn't fall asleep but he will get used to it and I'm sure it will help.

Also is his room quite dark? I have black out blinds on my Son's windows so the light doesn't come in first thing in the morning.

If you don't want to cut out the day sleep could you put him to bed a little later?

Thanks ladies.

He is still sleeping during the day, at least an hour in the afternoon sometimes an hour and a half. If he goes without his nap he pretty much falls asleep by his dinner time and/or is very ratty. I might try cutting his nap out though just to see if it makes a difference as its worth it!

Thank you very much for the gro clock suggestion. I will definitely get one, willing to try anything. Getting him to stay in bed until 6.50 would be a great result!

xx

My little girl went through a phase of waking a 5am wanting to go downstairs and start her day. We bought a gro-clock - its a clock from the gro company....you switch to night mode when they go to sleep and the clock shows the sun going down and the moon appears. Whatever your set wake up time is, the picture on the clock changes to the sun coming up. We started by setting it at 5am and telling her that she needed to wait for the sun before she could get it. We then moved it forward until we got to 6:50. It worked for us - she was interested in it and liked seeing the sun come up. It's not cheap at around £30, but for us was money well spent

Does he still have any sleep in the day?

If so, might be time to cut it out?

Do you think he would go for a star chart or similar?

Toddler wakes early...

Hi there
I'm just wondering if anybody has any suggestions for me. My two and a half year old wakes up every morning at 5am, wanting to come into our bed and then sleeps till about half six. This is a bit of a habit that was formed from a time when he was ill and I'm looking for suggestions for ways to keep him in his own bed until its time to get up. He's not quite developed enough to comprehend a timed night light system and controlled crying doesnt work at that time of the morning when he's already had most of his sleep.
Any ideas would be appreciated as I have a new baby on the way in February and it would be great if I didn't have my toddler waking at 5am!
Many thanks
