Hi All,

Best advice, find out the make of your bolier and call the manufacturer.

Don't use South Thames Gas is all I can suggest from our exerience...very very expensive, messy etc. Good to hear others have had better experiences with boilers fitters than us.

We used synergy heatsource to replace our boiler this month, they were very tidy and efficient and reasonably priced, would recommend them. They are also recommended by Worcester Bosch so a safe bet.

I used Affleck around this time last year - I had to replace an old back boiler and they installed a great Worcester Bosch Greenstar CDi - my gas bills have decreased in spite of price increases! I was confused about what bolier to get and they helped me decide. Affleck were really great - not the cheapest quote I got but fairly competitive and brilliant workmanship - http://www.affleckservices.co.uk/index.aspx

One more recommendation for Synergy Heatsource.

They installed a new boiler for us last year and as well as a number of new radiators. The advice the gave us was spot-on and the team were brilliant.

We used Pimlico Plumber by FAR the bests. Slighlty more expensive but if you add all the after costs then much cheapers... Also, they clean between days of work (it took 2 days), they are very understanding (we have two very young children and it was middle of november last year), they came promptly (they day after I have called to confirm their quote), they didnt have to go and get more pieces, when we still had some problems the following months (due to our wi-fi and our infra red thermostat interfering) he came back for free, etc.

In our new place, we have some problems with a couple of radiators and it will be pimlico plumbers.

I’d like to second the recommendation for Colin White. He just did a fantastic job with our new boiler.

Colin is excellent as his job, as well as friendly and reliable. He even volunteered to come round the Sunday after he finished to show us how the settings on the boiler worked!

I am a fully qualified, Gas Safe registered plumber. I live Between the Commons and have done lots of jobs for families in SW11 and the surrounding areas. Having worked for Pimlico Plumbers for three years (and featured in the BBC documentary 'Posh Plumbers!), I am now self employed. Most of my work comes as a result of recommendations from previous customers.
I am reliable, polite and tidy - I carry out all jobs to the highest standard, whilst charging reasonable prices.

Hi - just wanted to add my hard to shift baby weight  behind the recommendation for Synergy Heatsource. Not only were they very competitive price wise but Greg who fitted our new boler could not have been nicer. They also had a partner company who they recommended to come in and do the tidying up / decorating afterwards. A great service all round.

Have had previous quotes from british gas and they have been 1k more expensive and not noticed things like the fact I needed new pipework fitted for the new boiler to work.
We have used Synergy Heatsource (sw11) and try are very honest and reliable and I think good value.
Good luck.

Hi Sally,
I would recommend 2 companies Don at Glow Maintenance 0208 607 0449 he is in the Twickenham area so he might not come out to you, but worth a try. He is great he would be my first choice, and I am in the trade.
The other one is Putney plumbers, I have recommended them to lots of my customers and always had good feedback. Sebastian who works for them is a pleasure to have in your home.

I would not use British Gas, they did have a reputation for being very expensive and difficult to deal with, but this might have changed now. This is of course just my opinion.
Hope this helps, if you want a bit of free advice feel free to call me.

New Boiler - who to use?

by sally2 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 1:49 pm

Hi there!

We need to get a new boiler and need some feedback from anyone that has had one installed by British Gas, or alternatively and independent fitter please.

Not sure whether to go with British Gas or try other parties. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
