Thank you, both, for your consideration.

Thanks rootingforTooting I will check it out.

Janee, I agree it can be quite scary with children zipping around on their scooters and bikes. All I can say is that I am extremely conscious of other people on the paths and am very strict with ensuring my kids slow down or move out of the way around others.

answers for both posters..
At 5 we started our daughter witha Purple Maxi Micro Scooter With T Bar. It was fine and not too big, yes it is three wheeled but a very smooth rider.

I insist that my children never make an adult have to move out of the way and scould my children if they do.

I'm well past scooter age and hope your child enjoys whichever you get. As an elderly woman, can I ask that you teach your child about how easily elderly people break bones if hit my a young child on a scooter? I am sure you are a very responsible parent, but I am often quite nervous walking around Nappy Valley or on commons at school's out time because of the way in which children are allowed to scoot at speed on pavements and footpaths, sometimes in bunches.

Good luck in your search.

My 5 year old is ready for a two-wheeled scooter now, but I've been told the Microscooter sprite doesn't handle the (uneven) footpaths very well as the wheels are too small... can anyone recommend any other brands?
