I’m lucky enough to get to eat this fish every week and have to tell you it’s beautiful. Being only 24 hours out of the sea, it’s so fresh it tastes completely different, bearing no resemblance to the weeks old supermarket stuff that we used to eat. Occasionally I have to put up with my other half taking over the kitchen to gut and fillet the fish but it’s a small price to pay for vastly superior eating and it’s nice that the kids get to watch and get a better idea of where their food comes from. Often too, the fish comes gutted, so all you have to do is trim the fins off and whack it in a baking tray – even I have mastered this! It’s also meant we’ve tried at least 25 odd different locally-caught species over the last year whereas previously we’d buy the same things week in week out. If you’re a foodie type, like your fresh fish and trying new things, definitely give it a go. (full disclosure – I live with Guy)

Hello everyone,

We're trying to make membership of our fish box scheme a little bit easier for working people so we've expanded our delivery area to include much of the SW11 1, SW11 6, SW18 1, SW18 2 and SW18 3 postcodes covering Wandsworth and Battersea. You can also collect from the Draft House pub on Northcote road (3-6.30 on Fridays) or Cakes by Robin on Replingham Road in Southfields (3.15-5pm on Fridays), and if you live on the Southfields Grid, I'll happily drop your fish to your door at around 5pm too. Please check out the attached pdf to see if you're in our FREE delivery area.
Some of you might have seen Hugh's War on waste recently and are, like us, really concerned about the immoral levels of food waste caused by supermarkets. There are more ethical alternatives and it's worth mentioning Faircatch is a zero waste enterprise; by ordering only the fish our members require, there is no surplus and if anyone forgets their fish, our kids eat it! (this rarely happens and when it does, the member gets an extra week of fish). There is just time to squeeze in a four week season to try us out before Christmas, so please check out http://www.faircatch.co.uk and sign up to support a sustainable food system and small, local family business. Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/guydorrell1 @guydorrell1 and we'd be grateful for any shares of our posts on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Faircatch-Wand ... 658791516/
Remember, our fish is all caught on a Thursday or Friday, so is at least a week fresher than what you'll find in a supermarket. Get the #freshestfishinlondon and get healthy! Thanks, Guy
