usually when teachers are stressed out they blame 'home'. Well done to the parents for the hard work and keep it up!

It might be, I don't know - but the sentiments expressed in his article ring true.

Hi IsabelleB
Belleville's admission consultation closed just before Christmas so I think the page has been taken down from the school website.
I'm sure if you contact the school office or pop in they will be able to supply the information.

Just to say Belleville School is also consulting about bringing it's admissions policy in line with the new Wandsworth Council one and would welcome comments from members of the local community

I will post a new thread too rather than hi-jack Honeywell's but just thought parents following this one might be interested.

Thank you for your comments. As we can only take into account those made through the official channels please make sure you complete the consultation on http://www.Honeywellschools.org if you would like your views heard. Many thanks to those who have already responded.

I would also fix the ridiculous situation happening now, with kids living a block from Honeywell being accepted at Belleville but not at Honeywell. Just saying. :D

Honeywell is obviously right to follow the model set out by Wandsworth - because it is clearly recognised that people are gaming the system to get their children into this school (and other successful schools in the borough).

The only real criticism I'd have is that I don't really understand why any state-funded school should have a different set admissions criteria to non-foundation schools in the borough. ie this shouldn't be a decision for the governors to make, they should automatically adopt what the LEA is doing.

Good move, Honeywell. Thank you for putting this out there.

Honeywell is a special school not because of it's outstanding Ofsted report, but for the truly local feel - the children feel part of something, their friends are local, playdates are walked to, they walk to school and get to know the lovely lollipop ladies and gents, they live near their headteachers. SO rare for a London school.

All these parents getting one child in, purely to move out for a cheaper/bigger house and slip a few more siblings in - causing driving/parking hell for those who actually live locally to the school are ruining the feel of a truly local school for their own gain, and at the great cost of those living in the surrounding roads whose children should be in those school places.

Siblings should be at one school ideally. But that's a factor you have to consider when you choose to move away from your preferred school. You shouldn't take advantage of a loophole in a flawed system to allow you that luxury.

Honeywell Governors would welcome the local community's opinions on possible changes to their admissions criteria. If you would like to view and comment on the proposals please visit the school's website at http://www.honeywellschools.org and click on the 'Admissions consultation' link on the front page.
