I've actually got one of those pop up cot things - but it's more dome shaped. It has the net covering with it and yes, it folds into the size of a dinner plate. We never used it as we never got round to camping while the girls would still fit in it so you're more than welcome to have it if you want? We've got no use for it so if you don't want it, it'll prob end up on freecycle. :)

(I know you're not camping but it might be good as a travel cot anyway)

This is a link to the Baby Boltholes website - the Tuscany page. They have fantastic hotels and villa's that are specifically catered for families in terms of stair gates / spare nappies, wipes etc. I have only stayed in UK ones but all been fab.

We stayed in Greve in a farmhouse up a long gravel track when our eldest was a few weeks old. It wouldn't have been child friendly for baby on the move but with a newborn anywhere is good as everyone above has said, Italians love babies! (I wasn't yet using bottles so that did take away the steriliser problem)

I would recommend the tiny Samsonite pop up cot. It is only the size of a dinner plate when folded and has a mosquito net that covers the cot completely. There are quite a few mosquitoes around.

We went here http://www.villapia.com/index.php with our 3 kids some time ago, the children were 4,2 and 8 weeks old. Travel with the 8 week old was easy, all the Italians loved her and we were fluent in her name, age, weight etc in Italian before we left. There was a heatwave whilst we were there (42C) which was a bit much for the baby and she got unwell but we took her to a Italian doctor and they were great and had seen it all before and she was well within 12 hours.

We are going to Borgo San Pietro later this month with my 16 month old. Very different age to your newborn but they are apparently very child friendly and are going to cook all my daughter's meals for her - fantastic!

Good luck with the pregnancy and birth!

Hi

I can't help with Hotels but I've recently discovered www.holiday-rentals.co.uk. They have heaps of lovely villas you can rent that works out cheaper than a Hotel and you have way more room and privacy which is great with kids!

Hey,

I am expecting in early June and we are going to Tuscany for a wedding in early July and are going to make it a holiday as well.

Does anyone know of any really nice hotels that are baby friendly?

Thanks
