Hi - we have used Theresa Ybanez at Drake International and found her to be effective:

Hi,
I've been reading these messages and this has been a big help!
Wondering if there are any other Nanny's that anyone could recommend to help with school pick ups starting after the Easter holidays?

We used Cathy at sortyourhelp.com who I would recommend, they are a search agent. There are other local agencies such as abbevillenannies. ive also had friends use Greycoat nannies. It's quite pot luck to be honest as to who is available at the time you are looking and what you are looking for specifically. It's worth registering with a few agenices and you will need to be quite proactive and may have to interview quite a few people. Good luck.

Fab_temp_nanny, thanks a lot for explaining it so well!

In light of your explanation, what I am actually looking for is a live-in nanny. :)

Does anyone have any recommendations for agencies for live-in nannies?

^ in addition to my post above, many nannies do look at / use face book groups for nanny jobs - there is a big one with thousands of members called nanny jobs - where nannies sometimes look and find roles

Hi,

There is a big difference in an au pair and nanny... even though both can be / are 'live in'

I was an 'au pair' over a decade ago - I went on a cultural exchange overseas - I lived with a family overseas, I had room, board etc - I did childcare duties for them but was paid pocket money etc and whilst I did have some childcare experience before, it was a bit limited in regards to 'in the home experience'

A live in nanny - is a professional who isn't on a 'cultural exchange' and often has quite a lot of childcare experience, knowledge, and skills, often qualifications etc

A live in nanny is paid a proper wage - you are an employer and run PAYE for your nanny

^ unlike an au pair where you are a 'host family'

You can try and find a live in nanny privately - this website often has live in nanny roles, and live in nannies looking in the childcare section of this forum

You can use various other private sites to list an advert as a private family looking for a live in nanny -

http://www.nannyjob.co.uk/submitavacancy

http://www.greatcare.co.uk/post_job.html

you could also try a website called c h I l d c a r e . c o . u k

(spaces put in as this forum often stars out that website )

You could also use a nanny agency - there are many in London

a good place to see some listed agencies and the kinds of live in nanny jobs they have is -

How to get an au-pair or live-in nanny?

by hellokittyerw » Thu Mar 16, 2017 11:17 am

Hello Mums,

We will be looking for an au-pair or live-in nanny possibly from September.
I have no idea where to start looking, any suggestions?

We will need someone already in London so we can interview her face to face, and (ideally not but a must) someone who has some experience of looking after children in the UK.

Are there agencies/websites that you would recommend?
I have looked at aupairworld but I think this is mainly for aupairs who are looking for their first aupair experience.
Is there something similar for aupairs already in the UK? How about for live-in nannies?

thank you!
