Had all our girls go through the school. It is a happy school and lasting friendships were made. I have mixed views (on years 4 to 8) now our girls are at London days which are now very difficult to get into. I also have mixed views on the leadership of the school. If your child is averagely bright - she'll be fine. I think the homework after school was pointless and its difficult to fit anything else in like music practice or extra sport. The music is very good.

I decided against sending mine to a private school, they'll need the money far more than a few extra GCSEs when they enter the world. I know top Oxford students who can't find a job for love or money.

Interesting that everyone is talking experience with their girls. We are looking at it for our boys, do you consider it more of a girls' school?

The plan is still to pursue to get planning to expand the school to senior years. It would be just amazing if that happened! We are utterly thrilled with both the Upper and Lower schools!.

Has Broomwood now dropped its plan to expand the Upper School to run to 16? They bought a neighbouring building behind to try and do this but didn't get planning.
When I last spoke to the head they were still trying to find a way to do it. If so then 11/13+ prep is going to be very low priority. It also seemed to have put a bit of a strain on finances.

We have just moved both our Year 3 and Year 4 children in September from another Independant School in Wandsworth to Broomwood. I cannot tell you the difference it has made! Both children are doing phenomenally well. Just wished we had got places years ago. I would not hesitate.

My daughter went there from age 4 to 13. I have a lot of time for the headmistress . She thrived at the school and was head girl. My only complaint was that the mothers on the whole were ghastly, never worked a day in their lives spent most the time moaning about their husbands and playing tennis. Not exactly great role models

Broomwood releases their 11+ leavers list yesterday-3 to alleyns, 10 Emmanuel, loads to woldingham and streatham ans Clapham.5 to jags and 1 to St. Paul's. Think that says it all that it does prep the girls for the 11+

Thanks for your reply, yes I think there are always happy and unhappy parents so good to get all views. Does anyone know if sport is 'restricted' in the upper school too and any views in this? Thanks again

I guess my question is, what does Broomwood give me for the fees that a good/outstanding state primary school wouldn't give me? I think most people go independent because they think the teaching / sport will be significantly better in quality.
