Hi all,

Long time lurker - I was passing through Chatto and Webb’s Road yesterday on my way back from Clapham Junction with my other half. We had a few bags with us.

Saw a couple of guys with the usual balaclava and black helmets on a bike, they were following another guy on a moped with a similar helmet. They slowed and looked at us - fortunately they then passed by but then slowed at the end of the road. I thought they were going to come back, but they’d didn’t. I phoned the police and apparently they had received a few calls.

Police were alerted to suspicious moped drivers yesterday after a post on Next Door and were in the area looking for them. Not long after speaking with them on Wroughton Rd we saw an unmarked vehicle racing to the area and all this was around the time of the incident yesterday, only moments after we had driven along Webbs Rd.

All very frightening - I dont carry a handbag or even wear a watch any more. I am alerting as many people as I know or speak to - shop keepers, folk in a queue alongside me, about these crimes. We shouldn't be afraid to go out in our lovely neighbourhood but I am becoming more and more nervous.

Just wanted to let everyone know that there was another incident yesterday on Webb’s Road.

Two people in helmets on a moped with no number plate tried to mug a lady with a child in a pram. Very frightening and fortunately the lady was unharmed and they seemed to drive off quite quickly when other people walked past.

I have notified the police. Hopefully if they get information about enough incidents they will increase police presence. Please keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Apparently these guys were waiting around for a while, supposedly looking for targets.

How awful! I hope that you and daughter are ok. Has the police done anything about it? Have they got any leads?

Similar moped attack on battersea park road on Monday at 2pm near Tesco. Rode onto pavement and grabbed someone’s mobile phone. Two people fully covered on a bike with blacked out visors on their helmets.

How awful for you both, and not what you would expect around here.  Thank you for letting us all know about it, as it does mean we will be more aware of our surroundings.  But still shocking!

I am so sorry to hear this - its shocking and I hope you are recovering from the trauma.

From an earlier post it recommends also writing to the Battersea local MP as this is as powerful as reporting to the (much stretched) police. I hope this might be a useful suggestion to pass on.

Truely shocking how this is happening everyday now.

Glad to here you are OK OP.. it must have been very frightening.

This is the second incident I am aware of on Thurleigh rd. A man was mugged by a guy on a moped with a hammer at 7.00 ish in the evening a couple of months ago outside the church hall. Agree it’s an easy spot to target.

I think most of the kids activities at st Luke’s are finished for the summer but worth being extra vigilant.

Hello everyone
Thank you for your kind wishes. Luckily my daughter seems mostly unaffected but I am shaken up.
I have filed a police report.
It was almost opposite the doctors surgery. I have just signed up for .Next Door. but will take a few days for it to work so can't post it on there just yet.

Hi first of all I am so sorry that this happened to you. I think we all feel very nervous right now and it is awful that this happened with your 3 year old too.

Would it be possible to get an update from our very kind and helpful police as to the situation. Feels almost daily that we hear of such incidents. In the last few weeks I heard of Chatham road, Chatto road, Northcote and now this. Doesn’t feel safe right now.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, it must'be been so traumatic. We were driving around there at 3pm and I saw 2 guys on a moped looking really suspicious, one with a bakalava the other one I'm not too sure. I was just saying to my husband I wish there was a way we could alert the area when we see suspicious people like that, perhaps just to sound the horn so people around would pay attention to them? I wish I took a photo now, but again that wouldn't prove anything :(

I am so so sorry to hear that.

That must have been incredibly scary - especially with your daughter with you.

Have you reported it to the police?
