£11/hr for our cleaner and she is very good.

We avoid agencies as they are much more expensive

I think it probably depends on what the agency is paying the cleaner. I deliberately sought out an agency that paid London living wage, holidays, pension contributions etc. But then (perhaps predictably) realised that I couldn't afford a cleaner and went back to doing it myself!

I agree, £18 sounds a lot. We pay £15 an hour which already feels quite steep. £10 of that goes to the cleaner and £5 to the agency p/h.

I think that is expensive in my view even taking agency into consideration. We pay 15 per hour and feel that is already the top limit.

Cost of a cleaner

Hi All,

We’ve got a really great cleaner through a cleaning company, but the company is looking to increase prices.

We’re happy with the service, but I want a sense check that the new rate to the company (£18/hour) is reasonable. I don’t know what the company pays the cleaner directly.

Does anyone have a view as to whether that is expensive, cheap or on market?

Thanks,

D&L
