Its new Hygienist time for me

Under the current circumstances we have applied a surcharge to cover a variety of factors, all of which are allowing us to open safely.

While this does include PPE, the additional measures we must have in place are far more wide reaching than this and are completely beyond our control.

Everything we have put in place is for the safety of our patients and staff. This is our utmost concern.

We have made the promise to our patients that our prices will remain the same and that the surcharge will only be applied while these additional measures need to be in place. It is our hope that as the UK alert level drops, we may be able to revert to our usual service, at which time we will remove the surcharge.

We would be more than happy to discuss this further, if required, via phone or email.

Yes... there's a local dentist chair manufacturer right next door to the nuclear power plant and that shipyard where they're building the aircraft carrier on Northcote Road. I can't believe you've missed it.

This is just utter nonsense. A good friend of mine at a local NPV school who owns one do the dentists told me this is a complete con- dentists charging extra for PpE are just cashing in. She said it costs them next to nothing for PPE and they certainly don’t need to charge patients for it! She gets really upset when people tell her dentists are charging customers for it

The Sistova Road Dental Studio is excellent - https://www.sistovaroaddentalstudio.co.uk. My kids both had check ups there last fortnight.

Tx so much Goldhawk. Really handy for me also. I couldn't see a reference to NHS or whether it's private only. I'll call them but just wondered if you knew?

I used to go there until they had the flooding and had to get an emergency appt elsewhere. I was going to go back as I had NHS there but I see it's changed and my dentist has gone. Has anyone been there recently? Or has any other recommendation in Balham/SW4/SW11 that takes NHS patients? I used to have Nick and really liked him but no idea what happened there. All reccs gratefully received. A bit of my white filling fell out today so anxious to get it sorted asap. Thanks!

The Dentist in Balham is excellent. Opposite from HSBC and Waitrose, at the corner of the junction.

They're not NHS, although their checkup prices are (£20ish). Scale and polish is £40ish.

Excellent service, friendly dentists, able to get appointments within a week or two, and no complaints so far.

Hi,
I’m catching up on this old thread as I’ve recently come to the conclusion that Balham Dental Care is not providing the NHS service I need anymore.
I really liked them in the past but for the past 2 years or so they have been unreliably cancelling appointments at the last minute, reluctant to carry out basic hygiene care such as polish and scale and and unpleasant at the front desk.
Now, i was wondering if anyone here had moved on to another dentist or could recommend nhs local dentists or knows an alternative to nhs (I work freelance, so perhaps an insurance cover that’s good value). Thanks !

I've also had enough of them. I had one appointment cancelled the first week of March, other in April, another in May and one last week in early June. Each time they have been cancelled with less than 24hrs notice and the last 2 appointments have been made with firm assurances that it will go ahead only to be cancelled the day before.
Surely if they have been refurbishing for 3 months they know more than one day before that they aren't ready to open? I understand that they have been flooded and there have been problems with the work (although waiting for chairs from Greece seems an excuse too far, aren't there any more locally availble dentist chair companies...?) but surely it is a badly planned project if they keep cancelling everyone 24hrs before.
With 2 very small children and no family nearby I find it so frustrating trying to get appointments for myself and need to arrange childcare only to have the appointment cancelled. With no NHS practices locally taking on patients/ accepting maternity exemption certificates it is becoming beyond a joke as I can't really justify paying private practice prices.

I have used them for a few years and it is true that they have been painful with their refurbishment but not entirely their fault as all came from a flood.
To be fair they have now offered my kids appointments during private patients time and try to make up for the pain.
obviously if something urgent need to go somewhere else

I've used Balham Dental Care before but found their service not very friendly and also the hygiene clean was painful.

Yesterday I tried the new The Dentist clinic, opposite Waitrose and HSBC in Balham. What a difference! Very courteous dentist, and the checkup and clean were done very professionally and gently. Best of all, the price was really good, £65 all in for a checkup, xrays and hygiene clean. This might be a special rate as they've just recently opened, but I'm now definitely going back there for my next checkup.
