I lived for a year in the apartment complex on Smugglers Way - just next to Battersea Reach. It was admittedly some years ago but I found it quite a soulless place. Having to cross a six lane highway to get anywhere was particularly soul-destroying. We had lovely views across London and of the river (where I used to watch the cormorants fishing) but I wouldn’t want to be there with kids.

There is a brilliant Facebook group you can join called Life After London. Share your thoughts and people always respond positively and politely. You’ll get a real idea of different places outside London and what might work for you. Good luck!

We moved from between the commons to Haywards Heath 5 years ago and don't regret it for a minute. We are 45 mins by train to London Victoria/Bridge. 20 minutes by train to Brighton for a bit of buzz. Town itself although high street isnt that pretty has everything you need, surrounded by two very pretty villages (cuckfield and lindfield) and choice of really good schools locally both private and state. People here also nice mix and friendly :)

Where to move to?

We have lived in Balham for 10 years and love it. But we would like a bigger garden and more space, with great secondary school options and within striking distance of London.  The research is overwhelming so thought I'd try the wisdom of the crowds. In your experience, what are the most common places to move to from NappyValley? Thank you!
