I think that you are over reacting ...
If you are annoyed by the fact that people can get CCTV to have a look on your job then you are probably hiding things. Someone else said in another post about the fact that at work, people are filming which is true. Someone who is working in a bank or in a supermarket is filming so why not a nanny ?

So you might think that you defend all the nannies out there, well I'm a nanny and I do my job properly therefore if a family ask me that, I will be ok with it.

Hi.... I've read most of these posts but honestly, it got a bit boring! You either trust your nanny or you don't.... If you don't, then you need to ask her to leave and look after your children yourself! As for CCTV.... That is a totally ridiculous idea! I never have nor would I ever work in a house that had CCTV! TRUST is the biggest thing that needs to be had when hiring a nanny, as well as honesty! I think I am probably speaking for a large percentage of nannies out there by saying that we would not be happy working in a house with CCTV! I treat the children I look after exactly the way I should, whether I have parents at home or not! I've probably gone off on a tangent from the first post (that's disappeared) but I felt the need to stick up for nannies and CCTV .... Have a good Monday!

This poster just wanted to remind people that keeping in touch with what nannies do is important. As a nanny said it's equally important to remember that our kids need us parents and to review our own behaviour with them, what we do with them and how we bond with the nannies. I don't think people should take these posts as personal attacks. In fact that topic is helpful as nobody's perfect and self-criticism is a way to improve.

"Nobody is perfect, there is no perfect nanny, no perfect parents as some said, everybody can have a bad day !
So I don't like this topic because it let people think that nannies can be so bad and on the other way, nannies come here to say "no the parents are bad". Endless conversation !"

Exactly.

If there was an option for a like button I'd use it for your post Loretta.
Well said.

Well ! As a nanny, I have seen few things in my life but never as bad as the other nannies said ... If the parents would get cctv, I wouldn't mind if I am aware about this. If I was a mother, I would definitely get it to check on my kids whilst at work. That is definitely a right.

I have been very shocked about what the nannies said ... I have known some nannies who didn't care about the kids, they were inviting friends over while on duty to drink coffees, talking ... And the kids were left on their own !
But I have seen from my eyes, parents who didn't care about their own kids and who prefer going out with their friends for a drink ...

Nobody is perfect, there is no perfect nanny, no perfect parents as some said, everybody can have a bad day !
So I don't like this topic because it let people think that nannies can be so bad and on the other way, nannies come here to say "no the parents are bad". Endless conversation !

Shellbell.. was not insulting you. you seem to take it all so personally, if you actually thought about what you were writing and how you were writing it maybe you would realise why you are getting peoples backs up....
We as childcarers/mothers know about child abuse and know what you were originally saying...
Its about how YOU as a professional go about it... your are much more likely to get your point across by not insulting people.
You took the time to answer my post you should have taken the opportunity to say something more constructive....

Shellbell - people are posting because you wrote about this subject and you made it public !!!!! Is this not true??? I understand that it's a sensitive subject but you are the one who brought it in the publics attention.

I think you should have titled it differently " are people who you think they are?". Did the parent believe you? Did they dismiss the nanny?

Also I'm writing this on my phone !!!!! You should try spellcheck out!!!!!

Mitch you take the words out of my mouth!!!!

Abigail _ Do u enjoying getting peoples backs up?
I have a low IQ?? What the hell do u know about me??
Nothing.. !! How dare you tell me im a bad parent!!!!

Susie- If u had read my origional post, it stated 'most nannies are great, this only applies to afew'
It was never about ALL nannies!!!

I have been in childcare for the last 7 years and have seen some awful things... So I know for a FACT there is people out there who treat children badly!!

As stated in all my posts thats on this topic,
This is about simple child protection and looking out for children.

I have no idea why mindless people need to write some of the comments they have.

Have I done anything wrong? NO !!!!!

i completely agree with mitch's comments.

Shell bell..no one is denying raisng a cause for concern for a child/dren is the most important issue.

The annoyance people have is the way u voiced you're opionion to one group of people namely nannies with ur topic title "is ur nanny who u think she is". Naturally with all the good and trustworthy nannies out there u are going to get some backlash.

"We" (all who work with children, have children) "all" aim to protect and do best best for children in our care but most of us would not assume fault or discredibility with a whole group from one experience.

I agree with mitch on the cctv. I personally wouldnt mind if it was my boss wishing to see my charge during the day, what he is upto, other nannies may feel the same. Sure it would take getting used to.. dont pick food out ur teeth as a camera's about lol but as long as i was told Iwould'nt mind. If its a " on a need to catch u out thats assuming you have something to hide and thats the hurtful point.

For someone to have installed in my work place and to not be told i wouldnt work there anymore out of principal. Its a trust issue & i know all my nanny friends would feel the same. I know i love my job, am good at my job, u see ur child is happy & learning, ur updated on thier daily activities etc and my word should be enough.

Whilst I empethise with parents.. ofcourse ur children are the most precious things all good child carers understand this and go to great means to make u feel comfortabel with leaving you're children with us, but if u have lack of trust enough to need a camera to spy on ur employee's u should really rethink ur descision to have "anyone" other than you to look after you're children.
