There is also Amanda McLeod at the McLeod centre a specialist and professional who has written books on the subject.

Have you considered he needs to strengthen his arm muscles to improve the stability of his hand. I’d buy him a pull-up bar for his bedroom door and sign him up for rock climbing classes.

hi! We have exactly the same problem with ours.
Over the years, we have tried handwriting courses, even a private tutor to help with handwriting.
However, after term 1 in the school, the school agreed to assess him and he is now on the word processor (even for exams) for English and all humanities subjects.
It has made a world of difference to the content he is producing and of course, the teachers can actually read what he intends them to read vs. trying to decipher and contextualise.

I would have a chat with his Form tutor/ year head and see if the school is ready to assess to move him onto a word processor.
It will also put him under less pressure during exams when he is doing Math and sciences .

Look into local community centers or libraries for handwriting improvement classes. Also, check online platforms like Udemy or Skillshare for courses specifically focused on improving handwriting speed and legibility.

Hi,

My son is 12 (Year 7) and he needs help improving his handwriting. He particularly needs to learn how to keep his handwriting readable when he writes fast.

Would you have any recommendation on courses/tutoring he could get to work on his handwriting skills?

Many thanks!

Mimi
