Hello

We are considering Emanuel for Year 7 from 2025.  Are there any current parents who would be able to share their thoughts on the newly appointed headmaster and what direction they expect him to take the school in please?

Thank you

The Governing Body of Emanuel School is delighted to announce that Mr Ravi Kothakota has been appointed Head from September 2025.

After a rigorous recruitment process, Mr Kothakota came first in a long list of excellent candidates from well known schools in London and further afield.

As Deputy Head, Mr Kothakota has made a significant contribution to the school’s dramatically improved academic outcomes over recent years. Furthermore, as a leader who is personally ambitious, as well as adept at encouraging aspiration in others, he has energetically overseen the school’s sports programme, yielding some impressive results for our young athletes. The Governors also recognise how his empathic commitment to Emanuel’s wider life has done much to shape the cultural identity of the school, for example by championing pupil voice.

Mr Kothakota had this to say about his appointment:

“I am delighted to be given the opportunity by the Governing Body to build on the exceptional work of Rob Milne, leading Emanuel towards an exciting future and the next stage of its development as a leading co-educational school. As Head, I look forward to engaging with the pupils, parents and colleagues, strengthening connections with our local partners and ensuring Emanuel remains a truly transformative and community-based school”

Mr Milne, who remains Head of Emanuel until September 2025, has undertaken to work closely with Mr Kothakota to ensure a smooth continuity of school life through the following academic year. Mr Milne said:

“Ravi has made an enormous impact during his time at Emanuel. He joined from Hampton School, as an outstanding Head of Year, and since that time has been a dedicated subject teacher, sports coach and pastoral leader.  Always visible and engaged in pupils’ lives, I know that he will do a great job as Head, making the school his own, yet maintaining our distinguished identity, sense of fun and spirit.”
