Wandsworth’s Christmas tree recycling service is back, offering residents several free and sustainable options for recycling your Christmas trees.
From Monday 6 January, you can leave your Christmas tree out on your usual collection day and we’ll collect it for free.
Cllr Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing back our Christmas tree collection service in 2024/25. With even more drop-off sites, it’s easier than ever to sustainably dispose of your tree.”
Christmas tree collections
Our free collection service runs from Monday 6 January to Friday 31 January. Put your Christmas tree out for collection on your usual collection day and it’ll be collected the same day, but in a different vehicle.
Here are some handy tips for how to put out your trees. Remember, it should be put out on your usual collection day:
- Homes with front gardens: put your tree out for collection next to your rubbish and recycling bags, not on the street.
- Homes with no front garden: put your tree just outside your front door on the pavement, taking care not to block where people walk.
- Blocks of flats: leave your tree near your rubbish and recycling bin store, but don’t block access to the bins.
- Remove any decorations or pots as the trees are sent for composting.
Trees are sent for composting, so we will not collect any trees that are:
- Plastic/not real
- Still decorated
- In soil or a pot/stand
- Over 6ft (these must be cut into smaller pieces)
Report a missed collection if your tree was missed on collection day. Please remember it will be collected by a different vehicle, so please wait until after 7pm on collection day to report a missed collection online if it has still not been collected. Alternatively, you can also contact us the next working day on 020 8871 8558.
