HappyNewYear all! I agree with Nell. My understanding is that price is
'an invitation to buy' and doesnt need to be honoured, although, as Nell pointed out it, it very often is.

I actually think the above poster is wrong and they don't have to honour the price - they have been loads of stories in the press about wrong prices on websites etc which big companies didn't honour saying there had been a mistake.
As far as I understand you don't have to honour, sometimes companies do out of goodwill but they are entitled not to.

If an item is a store has a price tag on it and when you get to the till you are told it's been priced incorrectly, does the shop need to honor the price on the item or can they charge the higher price?

This happened to me yesterday and the difference was only 50p, but I was surprised when the girl tried to charge me the higher price without an apology and I refused the product.
