I'm a Nanny and I don't know any of my nanny-friends that would charge for the whole day !

Especially if it's just pick up and drop off!

Per hour is the way to go ;)

All the childminders I know wont charge a full day rate for a school drop off and pick up. They will only charge you the hours you use.

Hello,

I am a Registered Childminder.

Childminder's rates will vary based on one or all of these factors:

Your location and what your local Childminders charge
Ex. In Tooting you are likely to pay £4.50/ph and in Putney you will pay £9ph

Availability of Childminders in your area
Childminder's Experience
What a Childminder offers - Nappies, food, etc.

Many Childminders offer Full Time and Part Time vacancies, some require a 4 hour minimum from a part time vacancy. Full day is usually 8Am - 6Pm. Part time is 4 - 6 hours.

If you are looking for more information on your local Childminders you can go to one of the open houses for parents that are held by the Wandsworth Childminding Association and are advertised on this website.

You can also contact Family Information Services and Wandsworth Council and they should be able to provide you with a list of Registered Childminders in your Area.

Libraries can put you on an email list with an updated list of Childminders in your area which is sent out weekly.

Remember you have to sign a contract to work with a Childminder and until you have done so you can negotiate, but once you do sign the contract is binding.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Childminder rates

Hi All,

My kid will start school next year and I was thinking of using a childminder to drop him off / collect him. So far I have only rang one lady who said that she would charge me for a whole day, not just the hours she is actually with my child because, by keeping his "space", she wouldn't take a younger baby who would earn her more.

Is this normal or was she trying her luck because I sounded totally clueless? Also do you have any idea of the hourly rate a childminder charges?

Thank you all in advance!
