PLEASE spell 'childminder' like this: 'childminder'
Not like this: child-minder
There is no hyphen....

Pretty-please!

Many thanks

Hi the nanny share forum seems to have disappeared. Would be really helpful if it could be brought back as difficult to find shares in the general nanny jobs section due to there being so many.
Thanks

I have increased the file size for photos to 2meg so photos should now be accepted without any problems.

I will look into opening new windows for posts now...

Thanks guys!

I would love it if, when people post links, they open in a new tab instead of leaving the site to open in the same tab (does that make sense?!)

The search should be fixed this weekend.

Fingers crossed!

The tweets on the home page should be ok, I will check again now.

Thanks for all your input :D

Hi there

I am not a regular poster on NVN, but I do use this site from time to time to search for useful local info.

The search function, doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried a few times for something relatively simple and it comes up with no posts...

Also, I agree about the posts being on twitter. I am not a user of Twitter, but am not sure I'd be happy if i posted a personal question for it to be linked to Twitter. Having said that the links on the Latest tweets page dont seem to work for me either.

This could be because I am using an iPad??

Otherwise, it is looking good.

It is really interesting dealing with all the changes, and reading everyone's posts.

Mine point is very simple, not technical, and I have messaged you about this before...

PLEASE spell 'childminder' like this: 'childminder'
Not like this: child-minder
There is no hyphen....

Many thanks

I think dandelion's point makes sense .
Not everyone would like to have their personal issues aired to the world, if that makes sense.

However, some of the posts are worth posting on Twitter and Facebook. The Chelesea and Westminster one for example , more from awareness point of view.

Because the issues tackled are local , a lot of people on my friend list for example wont care about SW11 hospitals but it might catch someone's attention ....and if I think so , I will automatically talk about it on FB and Twitter . I dont think we will need to be prompted to do so .

Hi
Thanks for taking the time to post, I really appreciate it.

It's a good point and to be honest I hadn't really considered it.

Because we receive up to five thousand visits a day and only have 2500 followers on twitter I didn't see Twitter as being the biggest promoter of a post, if that makes sense?

Also most of those twitter followers are the mums that visit anyway so I am not sure we're opening it up to a wider audience, but that is a thought that has just occurred to me as opposed to a deliberate strategy. (if that makes sense)

It is a really interesting point! Are we inviting more people into an almost private discussion by tweeting the details?

Have to say you've foxed me there!

Does anyone else have a view?

Can I think about it for a day or so?

I think the site is working really well now, and looks good (except I agree with shuffling around the home page to show the posts higher up but I know that's being worked on)

My only grumble would be that I don't like posts being put onto Twitter. It puts me off posting on the site, especially if its for personal advice, if it then gets broadcast to a global audience.
Now, I know that the internet is global too, but people have signed up to this local website and presumably it is mostly looked at by people who it is relevant too. I have not signed up to Twitter and therefore wouldn't want my posts advertised there.
It isn't so important when it comes to asking advice on a plumber for example, but one of the nice things about this website is that it has felt like a local community and often people ask for quite personal advice.

It will deter me from using the site if there is an automatic link to facebook and twitter. It feels like you could post (relatively anonymously) about your marriage for example, then its on twitter, next its quoted in the Daily Mail...
Sorry to be negative, I really like the site. Maybe I just need to get with the 21st Century!

Hi
David (our developer) has had a busy night and so we should have the following fixed:

1) Richmond does not automatically log you out when you try to post

2) Annabel's Arcade should allow the viewing of pictures and the automatic resizing of pictures. This does not apply to "old" pics but all new adverts should be ok from now on

3) Search bar inside the forums is fixed, the home page search still needs work

Any other issues please keep posting - we're getting there.

Thank you everyone for all your feedback and for using NVN!

Thanks Annabel :)

I've managed to send a message now by going through the members area on NVN rather than through AA.....

Not sure why it took me so long to realise that was the solution

Hi
This is a reply to Rachelko about searching in AA only.

So...the short answer is no, the long answer is yes!

Short Answer

We've moved over to a new search engine which is built into the forum. We used to use Google "custom search".

The new search is fast and accurate. :-)

It is, however, also a bit stupid in that it won't let me tailor the search territory (i.e. AA only, Wandsworth only, Richmond only).

:-(

So...I think we're going to have to go back to Google custom search, which isn't as good but does allow me to offer that.

Sorry, I hope this is a helpful answer and thanks for using NVN!

Any other questions please shout.

A

ps I think we'll have the new search up and running in a week or so

No, you're not being dim

For some reason AA is logging people out again as soon as they are logged in.

We are racing through the bug list and this is one there, it's just taking a while.

If you post the link here of the item you want I can hook you "off board" with the other person.

If you're not happy for them to see your email address I'll act as a go-between :-)

apologies again and thank you for trying to use AA and NVN
