Putney High Street has a "designer" TK Maxx- shop, with a layout very open and approachable, opposite of Clapham Junction branch style. But no kids dept, bit disappointing. Generally unrecognisable compared to the generic TK Maxx layout, but with the same super bargains.

Balham Town Centre Manager has this minute reconfirmed that she spoke to TK Maxx yesterday and they will be in for sure in Sept/ Oct!

I couldn't understand some of the comments on twitter last night.

The tweet was from the town centre manager so one would hope she knows! :D

According to Twitter (thank you Ms Cloo) it's going to be opening in September/October and that was a retweet from the Town Centre Manager of Balham.

Bit sad, I know, I mean it's not like I haven't got better things to do (!) but I actually emailed TKMaxx in Feb (2013) asking for an update on what was happening as we are all keen to know ;-)... Their response was that plans were to still open a TK Maxx on the site but due to "technical issues" with the building they couldn't confirm when the opening date would be. Seems very strange as the rental opportunities must be enormous!!

There is a planning application currently being listed on Wandsworth website to knock down WHSmith and replace it with more new retail space on ground floor and leisure (gym?) on the first floor over all the retail space. I guess this may have delayed TKMaxx fit out for a while.

It's very odd that they're not fitting out the inside of the building though.
