There is a really good website called http://www.livingwithreflux.org/ which has excellent tips and a forum so you can ask questions.

Hi have you got private medical insurance? If so please go and see Sophie rosseanau at the Cromwell hospital. My son who is now 16 weeks had silent reflux from 5 weeks. She is amazing, asks you to text after each feed for a week. Amazing.

Hi

My son was also diagnosed with silent reflux early on so I know how difficult it can be. We had gaviscon and ranitidine, and at first the ranitidine didn't seem to work. However we found that his dose was quite low and once the doc had increased it to the maximum for his weight, it kicked in within about 3 days. We then had to increase it as his weight increased.

Once the dose was sorted he slept very well.

Hope that helps

Hi Rubymum,

Poor baby and you too :( Must be horrible seeing your baby in pain and I imagine neither of you has very restful nights.

Definitely get a higher wedge! Get the one with a 'dip' into it for his body so there's no chance he will fall out if he is wriggling alot. There is of course a belt aswell. I found these wedges really helpful. Even after keeping baby upright for a longlong time after feeding it's nice for them to be put down for sleep/rest at this angle.

Keep baby upright for a long time after feeding. If you are feeding in bed at night and are holding him upright, do get a bedside guard just to be safe and in case you fall asleep..

I'm not qualified to give any medical advice but Ive worked in families that has been given medicine for just silent-reflux (I was baby's night nanny) that was ment for 1 year plus babies but te medicine was given in less dose and only in small granules that I pit on the top of my finger and rubbed on baby's tounge. Could always ask your Pead about this?

All ideas I have for now!
Hope you get some sleep tonight!!

I went through a very bad experience. I do understand.
I found "Omopozol" is much better. You give it once a day.
Also, if the little one vomit - you should give Domperidone.
And Gasvascon (infant) with every feed.

Smaller feed/ more often does help. And keep your baby
Lie on tummy whenever possible.
I ended up put mine on apnea monitor as he refused to lie on his back.
Baby Sling (Baby Bjons) does help.

Hope this help. Let me know if you want to know more.

Hello,

I have just had a lovely second baby and she is now 5 weeks and has been diagnosed with silent reflux.

I am finding things really hard, for so many reasons. I am absolutely exhausted as our poor baby wont settle as she is in pain after every feed, and our medication (rinitidene) does not seem to be working yet.

I bought a 15 degree wedge which hasn't really helped, should I try a 30 degree wedge with a Tucker Sling? or are these a waste of money.

What else can I buy to help her - has anyone got any experience and advice and even moral support

Would love to hear from people who have been through this and can tell me what to do and that there is light at the end of the tunnel....!!
