I'm sorry to hear this Mungomuffit.
Don't leave.
People got hacked off you named and shamed.
Those of us who read your post and sighed about the crappy regularity with which supermarket staff are little short of sh***y and rude to their customers just sighed and didn't bother to post.
No, you probably shouldn't have given her name and if you want nice service staff then you really need to switch to M&S, Waitrose or ..amazingly enough..even Asda. But I too have stared in disbelief in certain chains at times horrified by what some staff consider to be 'service'. And having worked in the service industry for years (although not supermarkets) am amazed that some of these staff even bother to apply to work customer facing when it really isn't the career for them. Yes, sometimes it will be busy, sometimes a customer will want to trash the self-service tills and rant at the injustice of it all....but they are paid to smile, help and smooth things along, NOT make the situation worse by being rude to the customer. Or telling them to 'get outta my face!'
Would you honestly be able to say that in your line of work? Would you then expect your clients and manager to say ' ahhhh but she's having a hard day...'
I imagine not.
Anyway, we all know that it can at times get a bit Mumsnet on here, but cut Mungo some slack. She had a rotten time, told you all about it, and then got even more crap. Not nice all round.
