Ah, I was thinking state to private at year 3!! But if you are going to prepare for common entrance exam, I'd start beginning of year 5.

I'm not sure when kids are "assessed and tested" for a prep school place. I'd work out about 3-6months before the assessment as enough time depending on how they are progressing in reading and maths.

But to be honest, I'd limit the amount of tutoring unless your kids are really struggling at school. I really don't see too much of a difference in a good state school and private in those years.

I think at Honeywell most people start in year 5.

At what age/ which school year, would a child start to have extra tutoring to enable them make the move from a state primary to a private secondary school?
