11+ VERBAL AND NON-VERBAL REASONING WORKSHOPS

Our Reasoning Workshops are designed to teach children how to approach Reasoning and CAT questions for a variety of schools. These include schools in The 11+ London Consortium and for those children sitting exams set by GL Assessment

We strongly believe that Reasoning can be taught and that children who become familiar with this type of testing will do better on the day.
All too often students approach reasoning papers with random guessing, having been given no guidance on how to tackle the questions. Whilst it is true that some children have a natural ability to spot patterns, that does not mean that those who don't are a lost cause - they simply need to be shown the way!
During the workshops, we will work through each type of reasoning question as a group; we explain the method and approach required for each type of question, and highlight the patterns to look for. Each student will receive an 11+ GL Assessment Verbal / Non-Verbal Reasoning Paper which will be the basis of our work.
There are some key concepts that we will focus on that will help children to succeed with reasoning exams.
These include:
  • Verbal Reasoning: Numerical pattern recognition; identifying verb vs noun forms; identifying homophones; code breaking.
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning: Applying the spatial operations of rotation, reflection & translation; scale and proportion; multi-step operations.
With a maximum of 6 students in a group, each child will have ample opportunity to ask questions and work at their own pace, whilst benefiting from the thoughts and questions of other members of the group.
The workshops are sold as a 2-day package.  Workshops C, D, E and F will cover different reasoning papers, so students can attend multiple sessions for more practice.
