It doesn't say who or why but at least confirms they detained him eventually in the afternoon.

What happened?

The only update I could find was in The Express - it had a picture of Hornsby House school in the background.

A man with a knife is involved in a stand-off with police in Hearnville Road in Balham has been sealed off as the Met responds to sightings of an armed man.Reports suggest specialist police are responding to the incident, which is being described as a 'concern for welfare' after someone was seen with a knife. The Met said officers have surrounded a house where a man with a knife has been seen.Police are trying to negotiate with the man armed with a blade, with the Met has confirmed negotiators are at the scene.Just before 1pm the official Metropolitan Police service Twitter account for the Nightingale area of Wandsworth also confirmed a road was closed because of cordons in place to keep people back. The police tweet said: "Hearnville Road Balham SW12 currently closed between Mayford Road and Chestnut Grove due to an ongoing incident, police on scene."
