Over 9 years we have had Zipcar located opposite my house.
2.45am last night they were valeting it running engines hoovering and so on with no regard for residents.
This happens regularly.
The car alarm goes off regularly.
But the worst was when someone looked at their phone driving away and crashed into our parked car.
I’ve had enough. I want it moved.
The council noise complaints team get contacted regularly but don’t do anything so I’m looking for advice please. This is a commercial business operating anti social hours in a quiet residential street. I’ve had enough disturbed nights! HH

You have my sympathy. Sounds awful. Have you called Zipcar out on it? Not acceptable at all.

That's terrible, sorry to hear that. For ZipCar's contract cleaners to be washing/vacuuming the car at that anti-social hour, the car is either in use all the time or the contracted cleaner has taken on more work than it can handle and is working around the clock. Having said that, the fact the alarm's going off regularly would hint at the car not being used enough.

In your shoes, prior to contacting ZipCar I would download the app if you haven't already done so, and look up the availability of that particular car over a couple of days, to be able to show ZipCar that there are far better times of the day for the car to be booked out and cleaned by the contracted cleaners. Failing that just check on the car a few times one day to see roughly how long it's there sat unused during daylight hours then contact ZipCar. If you are a member, you can call them from within the app.

I would certainly recommend you contact ZipCar first, if you have not alerted them to it, they may not know! Shared use cars are very important to people that do not own a car, so rather than say you’ve had enough, please try to rectify the issue first. You may not see the value they bring as you have your own car but please know they are needed to reduce private car ownership in the city which in turn makes for a much better environment for all. I’d personally love a Zipcar to be located so close to my home, my nearest is a 7 minute walk! I agree the valeting out of hours needs to be addressed though. Please get on Twitter about that, generally the best way to get a response. Even better if you took a video, to post that on Twitter to demonstrate the nuisance they are causing.

You mention the noise complaints team at the council have been contacted but perhaps report it as nuisance too as I believe the council are obliged to respond in respect of commercial company causing a nuisance?
Good luck. There is nothing worse than having your sleep disturbed by inconsiderate street noise.

my sympathies as we are in NW1 with the same problem, noisy valeting with loud music playing while they hoover etc, and the car horn seems to go off whenever unlocked or sometimes at random (when software accessed or updating ?), have you had any luck with Zipcar, I have had little success as don't seem interested, and it doesn't seem to be a priority for the council
