Police warning of teen girl gang muggings around Earlsfield Post Reply

This has been circulated by police to residents around SW18.

It's of particular interest for those who visit Ironsides or The Spencer Club.

Dear local residents, 

We want to make you aware of some muggings and attempted attacks in the local Earlsfield area. There is a group of 4 girls (who are linked to a local gang of boys.) They are aged 15/16 and are attacking lone females in the area. 

We only have the description of 2 of them. One is mixed race, slim build, she has teeth braces and her hair is tied back. The other is white, medium build, long ginger hair.  (approx age 16.)

They are approaching lone females asking for change and then saying if you don’t give them money or your phone they will beat you up. 

On Friday the 12th of May, on Swaby road they attacked a female during the early evening and did best her up. Only 45 minutes after attempting to do the same, and chasing another female. 

The police are aware (one girl was actually in custody on the 11th May (the day before these attacks for doing this locally to someone else).

They have apparently also been doing it in the Tooting area.

It’s great that the Police are aware but does anyone know what they are going to do about it? Do the Wandsworth Police ever post on here and can they give us some reassurance that this (and all the other violence / criminal behaviour that’s being perpetrated by kids on other kids and adult females in the parks and on the streets of Earlsfield / Wandsworth at the moment) is not going to continue?

ChakaKhan:  Of course the police can't give you that reassurance.  You're asking for the impossible.  You'd need a plethora of police on every street in the area.  It ain't going to happen.  Even if they rounded up these particular muggers, another group of villains will have taken their place.

dimelda - fair point. My initial comment was worded badly. I guess I would like some reassurance that steps are being taken to reduce the risk of these types of incidents towards women and kids locally. And I'd like to understand what those steps are.
