British Transport Police were called to Barnes station shortly after 11am following reports of a casualty on the tracks yesterday.
Paramedics attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
In order to allow emergency services to access the railway, all power to the track were switched off for almost 90 minutes by National Rail.
Trains are now running as normal.
