Common People, the Hyde Farm, Balham community magazine is a new venture launched by local resident and publisher Joe Pearson, who is keen to harness the newfound spirit of neighbourliness in lockdown.
Common People is a beautifully produced hard copy magazine, with great photos and fascinating articles about Hyde Farm’s past and present. It’s free to pick up from the Hyde Farm cafe and the Cosy Corner store in Emmanuel Road.
Joe has deliberately chosen this format as way of delivering traditional quality in an online dominated world.
Keeping a new publication going is challenging, but your support could be a great help, especially through:
- Contributing stories of past life in Balham and Tooting, especially with photos or World War memories
- Spreading the word about Common People, and if you have a public access point, stocking a few copies for people to take away
- Collaborating with Joe for example in collecting and editing copy
