Covid infection rates drop in SW London, cases remain high

Postby Community Editor » Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:36 pm

The infection rates for the Covid-19 coronavirus are falling across South West London but numbers of new cases remain high in many boroughs in the region.

That's according to the latest data from Public Health England (PHE), who again updated their rolling data for Covid infection rates across England as deaths attributed to the virus topped 100,000 across the UK.

On the colour-coded, interactive map used by PHE to chart the spread of coronavirus across the UK, many boroughs in South West London were still shaded purple on Wednesday (27 January), indicating high numbers of new cases.

The below list tracks the seven days up to 21 January, and examines numbers of new cases, the percentage change from the previous week's data and infection rates (per 100,000 people) for each borough in the region over the period.

Croydon: Cases 2,264, -31.7 per cent, rolling rate 585.5
Sutton: Cases 1,078, -27.3 per cent, rolling rate 522.4
Merton: Cases 1,061, -28.0 per cent, rolling rate 513.7
Lambeth: Cases 1,635, -33.2 per cent, rolling rate 501.5
Wandsworth: Cases 1,303, -33.0 per cent, rolling rate 395.2
Richmond: Cases 577, -23.9 per cent, rolling rate 291.4
Kingston: Cases 689, -15.3 per cent, rolling rate 388.2
