There has been so much activity in the Clapham Junction Business Improvement District (BID) area over the last few months during shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We've been absolutely amazed and inspired by the innovation, resilience, generosity and fortitude shown by so many of our local businesses as they have continued to service our community, during such difficult times. We are delighted that the majority of our businesses have been able to reopen over the last couple of weeks, and others will be opening imminently.
During the beginning of COVID-19 lockdown, two award-winning cinematographers, a director/producer and a Stills photographer – all local residents - generously helped The Clapham Junction BID create a promotional documentary ‘Local – The New Normal?’ and a series of nine short films which focused on the importance of community, shopping local and supporting our small independents.

On the 15th June, The BID welcomed the Under-Secretary for the Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Minister for Small Business & Minister for London, Paul Scully MP to The Junction to celebrate the re-opening of non-essential retail businesses on Northcote Road. The Minister also paid another visit, this time to St. John’s Hill, on the 4th July - to visit bars, restaurants, cafes, hair salons and barbers who reopened on that day. His visits were aired on ITV news and on the BEIS (@beis) social media channels.
