1st Holiday with baby <6 months - any recommendations?

Postby SJH Mummy » Fri Nov 25, 2011 8:22 am

Hi there,

I'm hoping to go away before our baby is 6 months old somewhere not too far away but warm. Any tips?

I was thinking perhaps Middle East, North Africa, Canary Islands (is Mauritius too far?) and would like it to be sunbathing weather if possible, anytime before the end of April 2012.

Any advice on flights, hotels or package deals are greatly recieved?

Thanks so much

Mauritius is pretty far - our first holiday witha baby was at 6 months and we went to cyprus - 4.5 hrs was PLENTY trust me!!! Cyrprus can be really warm in april - we stayed at the Almyra which was very child friendly (you pre order soooo much stuff for baby) and all food is freshlly made PLUS they have an ofsted regulated creche who were amazing and meant we had a couple of hours a day by the adult pool feeling like we really were on holiday!!! ONly thingi would say is make sure you get a sea view room as the rear view isnt great and by all account can be noisy - sea view was beautiful though!!!

we went to spain with our 1st at 6 weeks. 2hr15mins flight and that was about all we wanted to do. we were lucky that our daughter was a star. need to have something to drink/suck on during take off and landing for the pressure change.

mauritius is a long flight! spain is warm enough in april without being too hot for baby. corsica, sardinia pretty much same latitude. can't comment on dubai never been, only through. enjoy!

we went to mauritius when our daughter was 6 months. flight on the way there was fine as it was a night flight and she slept the whole way. flight on the way back was a little difficult as hard to keep her entertained. if she's a good sleeper at night go with night flight and you should be fine. enjoy!

I went to the states while my oldest was 4 months and again at 7 months and it was fine. I found that breastfeeding helped a lot. He was really happy a majority of the flight.

I think it is much harder when they start to move around (9 months to 18months) as then you have to walk the aisles... and do other entertaining tricks.

Good Luck. Sounds wonderful... bit green eyed. x
