What on Earth is this ??? - Mysterious Huge Insect in Garden on Drying Washing!!! Post Reply

Huge (  8 - 10 cm long) grey/black / white moth type insect found resting on our washing that has been out all day. It was so big Ithought it was a sleeping bat at first!

Would certainly freak me out if it landed on me - anybody have any idea what it is?

 Convolvulous hawk moth it is - confirmed when I looked it up!

My husband wasn't too sure see it had slept the night in his underpants on the line!

That must have been a real shocker to see on your washing! Don’t worry too much; it’s probably just a big bug looking for a cozy spot. If it’s a huge insect, it might be something like a hawk-moth or maybe even a beetle like a stag beetle—harmless, but surprising! They sometimes show up in gardens when it’s warm.
