UPDATED: Calling any Aussie expats? Christmas Mercy Mission? Success!

Postby DeeJackson72 » Tue Nov 22, 2022 5:12 pm

Just wanted to let you know about the amazing response to this plea?  Our Aussie friends' 16 yo son needed somewhere to come to in the UK to resolve Schengen visa exigencies and they were hoping that he could also have a decent Xmas to boot. He is in Europe with the Aus national junior biathlon team & his father, who was due to fly over to join him, is unable to travel due to cancer treatment.

There was a swift and pretty overwhelming response from half a dozen Aussie families, offering to host him and loads more who would have done so, had they not been returning home, many for the first time since pre-pandemic.

Our friends in Canberra are relieved, overwhelmed and very grateful and I, for one, have been swept away by the generosity and kindness of strangers and that's always a reassuring feeling these days?

Thanks again to everyone for reading/responding, and to admin for flagging the post in Monday's email.

Have a wonderful silly seaon all!
