Nails and screws left in road by messy selfish builders

Postby muddyboots » Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:03 am

Please can people be more considerate and make sure their builders sweep up during and after jobs to make sure screws and sharp objects are not left in the road and edge of pavement.

One year we had 3 punctures! It’s very expensive!

And we’ve now had the first one for 2023.

I literally look before I park now, but if dark you have to chance it.

Such an unnecessary cost and all because builders don’t care enough to clean up after themselves.

Please can you do your bit and make sure your builders sweep up ??
Especially when emptying skips .

I picked up 4 screws outside a house just the other day .

Odd post . Maybe you are parking in front of building sites too much . Never been an issue I’ve encountered or heard of before in this area.

Perhaps you’ve been lucky or we’ve been unlucky.

I always avoid parking near building sites, you’d be surprised now many nails are left AFTER builds. This is the issue, once they are gone you don’t know.

Anyway, I was hoping to raise awareness and kind consideration from people who have builders in.

Fingers crossed 🤞

This is not an odd post at all as lepresidente likes to call it. I agree that this is a real issue and we have already had several punctures, too, due to screws and nails in the street. I am sure that we are not the only ones. It is not only an issue of not parking in front of "building sites", even a carpenter/handyman etc. can loose nails and screws while (un)loading or working on the pavement. Maybe you have not been in the area for long enough...

I’ve had a few over the years too. It is extremely annoying but people are selfish. I’m always having to dispose of beer cans that people leave on my garden wall.

Yup here too, not an odd post at all. We are so accustomed to them, hubby can now tell whether we need a new tyre or not from the angle the latest one goes in at. Its annoying, expensive and inconsiderate. Would be great if homeowners could expressly ask this of their builders.
