Caudalie Spa is opening April 2017 see here: http://www.spabusiness.com/detail.cfm?p ... eID=590209

Gardenia is closing, I'm on their mailing list and they sent an email about this last week, they have a branch in Wimbledon Village and can't manage both overheads with increase in rent so shutting Northcote Rd.

No idea about Dove's butchers, shame as it's been there for years!

No idea what Caudalie is but sounds good! Shame about gardenia it was really conveniently placed and I always prefer encouraging businesses taking regular shopfront rather than stalls. I hope another florist replaces them.

Fantastic news about Bailey and Sage. Eagled eyes might have noticed that I was suggesting them on that same thread about two years ago!
And being French, I can only approve of Caudalie.
Second the good notes about Park Road Kitchen: nice fresh food. Would be good if they changed the menu a bit but now that Bailey and Sage is coming, there'll be fantastic produces (try the Muscat grape in autumn, best grape ever, it's a French specialty) and some prepared dishes to choose from.

So this is opening soon on the site by Dove's. A pizzeria and bar. There are a few around London see:- http://www.madeinitalygroup.co.uk/ and the menu of the Wimbledon branch which looks identical to the Northcote Road branch see:- http://www.madeinitalygroup.co.uk/wimb.pdf

Could be worse.

I think Made in Italy is opening where Holy Drinker used to be Julian. There is a sign already outside. There used to be one on Kings Road in the past - it was a great place. Hope the standards will remain the same!

We went to Dove on Sunday (as Hennessey's were already closed) and asked what was coming to replace them - they said they didn't know yet and it was sold simply as a retail place. I don't know how much they know and how much they don't want to say... We commented on them closing "it must be good news for Hennessy's". And they responded "yes, they need all the help they can get". Even now they can't help the last dig at the competition! Dove has great meat but awful service - we won't miss them although it's definitely the end of a big Northcote Road chapter...

I'm really excited about Bailey and Sage too. So glad we are not getting more estate agents or baby clothes shops!

All rumours, but I'd heard that Doves was becoming a coffee shop, but if they don't know themselves then it could be anything. I think we're maxed out on Estate Agents in Northcote road now, so hopefully not another one of those. I did find Doves' staff a little rude at times, but their meat was always superb. We went to Hennesseys last weekend and bought a chicken from there...not cheap at £16, but I have to say that it was the best roast chicken my husband has ever done. Not sure if it was him or the chicken itself, but we'll definitely be returning there...and their staff seemed very nice and friendly too, so big thumbs up there. So hopefully they'll stay open otherwise we'll be without any butcher at all which would be a shame. I love the fish stall too and buy from them twice a week.
Glad to see more eateries popping up, and I hope MadeinItalay don't offer too much competition to the lovely Pizza Metro (Battersea Rise). I do love Al Gusto for a lunchtime venue - they used to make the most delicious gnocchi which I lived off during my last maternity leave!
All in all, the changes seem positive so far. Anyone know what's happening to the other places (eg. old Printax which I think is still boarded up, and the old Costa/Mountain Warehouse place?).

Agree the changes are definitely positive.
And I second the chicken comment for Hennessey's it is also the best I ve ever had. I am keen to try the roast chicken from the Park road kitchen rotisserie too.
Made in italy on kings road was great and definitely looking forward to it but it will be hard to beat Buena Sera as my favourite Italian hang out. I am sure I ll have room for both :)

Hennesseys is great; they're friendly and helpful butchers, not supermarket prices, but you get what you pay for. I've never been disappointed. Don't wish Doves ill at all, it is indeed the end of an era, but I hope it is good news for Hennesseys and they pick up some new customers so we can keep our local butcher. All the new shops and eateries are great (not more estate agents!) but I do hope we can retain at least some basic day to day shops too. It's been said many times, but if we don't support them they'll all be gone and that would be a sad day.

Very sorry to see Doves closing. I feel that Bob was ill served by the snotty and over entitled new comers to Clapham. I don't blame him at all for being angry as the truth is that The South Chelsea set have destroyed the local community and buisnesses. I hope you all choke on your Quinoa and Manchego.
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear da lamentations of da Wimmin.

Please note that Northcote Road is in Battersea. It is incredible how many people get this wrong. Clapham Junction is in Battersea as well. I know this sounds petty but it is important that the distinction is made

Bayley and sage has now open! i have been a few times this week-end and it is super with fresh fruit and veg, nice looking quiches, poilane bread and more! Crucially it is open till 9pm not closing at 5pm like some other shops on the road who only seem to cater to the non-working crowd.
The Caudalie boutique looks like it will open soon, it will be a nice addition to the road, great to have all these posh shops but I hope they don't drive the rents up too much. We love our amazing independents!
