Great selection of fish being landed in Hastings today, ready for our Faircatch fish-box members to collect from Barmouth Kitchen tomorrow afternoon 3.30-6.30pm. If you like super-fresh and sustainably caught fish, sign up and try us out. I'm likely to have some lemon sole, plaice, gurnard and huss and if you'd like to try us out as a "one-off" then please do. You need to text me fairly soon though, as I will be ordering imminently 07810 753 815.

Fish caught yesterday in Hastings delivered at 4.20am in Wandsworth, eaten by members this evening. We go through a little pain to bring our members the freshest fish in London, but it's sooo worth it!

The simplest of recipes for gurnard from Mitch Tonks - I might have a couple spare if you can get down to Barmouth Kitchen this afternoon...

Here's what you missed everyone. Beautiful lemon sole, plaice, brill and gurnard. Sign up and get some for next fish Friday. www.faircatch.co.uk £12.50 per portion for 2, weekly or fortnightly collection options and it's the freshest fish in London, as well as being responsibly sourced and supporting local fishermen. If you live really close to Barmouth Kitchen, I'll even drop it to your door...

Please like us on Facebook and spread the word. Coming to Northcote road soon too....

Really pleased to have had a number of members re-subscribing for Faircatch membership today, some of them increasing their chosen weight to feeed the whole family. It suggests that they're really happy with the freshness, quality and variety of fish we have provided over the last coupleof months, as well as buying in to the idea of eating seasonally and trying new species. Great to see so many members doing exactly what we've done - buying themselves a fileting knife and teaching themselves with youtube videos. It's really not as difficult as it looks! If you're going to eat fish, why not have the freshest available, know exactly where it has come from and support our local fishermen? #nobrainer!

This week our lucky members got the freshest wild sea bass in London, caught and landed at about midday on Friday in Emsworth, in their bags by 3.30pm and (I'd imagine) on their plates by 8pm. The farmed version, often from Turkey, is a great deal cheaper but a wild fish trumps it for taste every time, particularly if, like ours, it's only a few hours out of the sea. This species will often cost you £20+ at fishmongers and farmers markets, our members pay about £15, which is a steal! Sign up and find out what you've been missing. http://www.faircatch.co.uk

Ginger, chilli and spring onion with sea bass is always a winner.

Hi

I signed up a few weeks ago having seen this on Streetlife, What happens next. I'd love to go for a one-off box to start.

Hi Jimisayo,

If you registered your interest on the site then you will have been added to our mailing list to receive our newsletter (Sorry, I just haven't had the chance to write one in the last fortnight!).
I'm afraid we don't really do one-off boxes. A fish box scheme is a subscription model so it relies on people signing up for a period of time, it can be as short as 4 weeks though and if you're away and can't collect one week, then it's easy to swap your dates by just dropping us an email.

You should find all the options on the sign up page of our website and it's worth reading the FAQ too.

My number is 07810 753 815 if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Guy

Ah, yeah, I think signing up makes you expect to receive something so I admit I never checked the site again after being subscribed. As a single person living alone, I couldn't commit to a box a week. A box a month, probably. I'll be on the look out for the newsletter at any rate.

A "box" can be 0.75kg / week (enough for two servings) but frankly I can eat that much myself without any difficulty! You should have received a thank you email in response, may have gone to your junk mail... Cod, lemon sole and gurnard this week.

Happy Bank Holiday everyone, hope all our members enjoyed their fish while we were away at a wedding. Big thanks to our graphic design whizz Jamie for covering at Barmouth Kitchen for us. Northcote road collection point coming very soon....

Love our blooming neighbourhood at this time of year, couldn't resist posting a pic of my elder daughter Lila as a flower girl too - just to make you smile!

Please sign up and support a local, family business x
