Families not paying tax to their nannies

Postby MaternityNanny84 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:47 am

Hello everybody,

As I don't believe in smoke and mirrors I would like to start this topic.
What do you think about the families that try to dodge the taxman paying their nannies cash in hands?
One of my fellow nannies friends recently contacted HMRC after she discovered that the family wasn't paying her full tax. They will be prosecuted. Will you report neighbours and friends if you had to discover something like fraud/tax evasion?
It is a very interesting topic but nobody talks about it.
Once I was accused by one of my ex employers not to be flexible as I refused that they tried to cheat on tax. On another occasion I was threatened not to receive a good reference if I did not let my employer go tax free.

Thanks

What do you mean the full amount of tax? I know some parents pay 50% in cash and the rest through the books. I did think that wasn't too bad but I guess with all the Starbucks/Amazon/Yahoo stuff it is less acceptable now.
