Nursery in Tooting Broadway?

Postby isabella » Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:31 pm

Hi all

I'm brand new on here... and at all of this! I'm just a pregnant fattie at the moment but I'm trying to get organised as soon enough I'll need a part time nursery and I'd absolutely love any recommendations.

We'd be happy to travel for the right place really, so Balham, Tooting Bec, Earlsfield as well as Toots broadway. We'll need part time care from 3 months.

I honestly can't even work out what is a reasonable per day price as the prices we're being quoted all seem so varied. So any advice is welcome!

Thanks for helping to noob!

Isa

My older daughter in Toots in Tooting broadway and loved it there.
It has this home feel that is missing in all the bigger nurseries.
Very reasonable prices as well.

Congratulations! Have you looked at the Tooting Baby website?

There's a nursery within St George's hospital which is open to anyone which a friend of mine looked at and liked before deciding to go down the childminder route instead.

And I know people who've been happy with the nursery on the old Springfield hospital sight (sorry, unhelpfully don't know what it's called)

And friends who use Balham Babyroom and Eveline (both between Balham a s tooting bec).

3 months is quite little - I don't imagine any of those nurseries have many 3 month olds - have you considered a nanny share? Works out about the same cost and may seem a bit less "scary" (for you!) at that age. We have a nanny (twins, so wasn't much in it cost-wise and there are various advantages - you don't need to get your child dressed and mobilised in the morning, so the hour I have with them is much calmer (I leave them in their PJs eating breakfast), the nanny still comes if they are ill (I only have to take time off if she is ill - less common) and she does their washing on the days she is here.

Good luck.

Hi there

My childminder has just opened a nursery a few mins from Tooting overland station (my daughter goes there). It's great, really reasonable, great opening hours and they have places available as it's just opened.

Comes with a big recommendation from me!

Hello Isa,

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am sure you are look amazing with pregnancy glow!

Third Door (Workhub & Nursery) is a option you could consider. You can work close by in the Workhub whilst the Nursery staff look after you little one and pop down when needed to nurse/feed your baby. There are no restrictions to staying onsite as we also operate as a stand alone Nursery. We are used to looking after babies as well as older children.

We are in SW18 1GG by the river near Wandsworth Park, if this isn't too far for you, please do call Third Door on 0208 8770098 or email hello@third-door.com and Ask for Gemma who is the Nursery Manager.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Blimey, thanks all so much for your fantastic replies! Sorry me so slow.

Well I have now been to visit Toots so thank you all for that tip! But I am now wondering if 3 months is just a bit too wee for a nursery, so I'm looking into childminder options as suggested.

PipG was that Funky Owls nursery? I have called and emailed them a few times but never heard back?!

And Third Door - is that flexible or do you need to stick to certain days?

Anyway, you've all been very kind, thank you!
